About ID document watermarks
Which watermark should I use on an ID document?
Use diagonal tiling, not a single mark in the corner. A corner watermark disappears with one crop, while diagonal tiling covers the whole image so even a cropped piece carries it. State the purpose clearly, for example "For XX platform identity verification only, invalid elsewhere". Keep coverage at standard and opacity between 20% and 30% so the document details stay readable.
Is my ID safe once it has a watermark?
Not quite. A watermark raises the cost of misuse and makes it easier to trace afterwards, but it can still be edited out. Submit real identity documents through official channels, and do not casually send them over chat apps.
What is the date placeholder in the text?
It gets replaced with today's date at render time, for example "For XX verification only August 10, 2026". In a batch, every image uses the same date.
Will the watermark cover important details?
A tiled watermark will always sit on top of the document details. That is exactly what makes it crop-resistant. Lower the opacity and pick light coverage to keep the text underneath clearer. Before exporting, check in the preview that the name, document number and expiry date are still readable.
Does the exported image keep the original EXIF?
No. When the browser redraws the image, camera settings, timestamps and GPS location are dropped. For ID documents and anything you share online that is usually a good thing, but keep a backup of the original if you need the capture data.
How many images can I process at once?
There is no cap. Images are processed one by one and the only limit is device memory. Download them individually or grab them all as a zip.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Decoding, compositing and exporting all happen on your machine, and it works offline. Your Logo file stays local too.
